Hi, I'm Ella, the stationer and artist behind Ella Letterpress, and I love being surrounded by beautiful things. I come from a long line of artists and creatives. My mother and aunt are artists, my grandmother was a watercolor artist, my great-grandmother was a sculptor, and my great-great-grandfather, Charles Dana Gibson, was an illustrator who created the iconic Gibson Girl. While my family has always inspired me, I was encouraged to find my own creative path.

I found my way into the world of fine stationery while working at a stationery store during college. That's where I was introduced to graphic design and fell in love with letterpress—the beautiful papers, the impression of ink into cotton paper, and the hands-on nature of the craft. I started making stationery for friends on the side, and eventually opened an Etsy shop. In 2012, Ella Letterpress was born, along with my journey as an aspiring stationer.

My work centers around stationery, custom design, and weddings, and it wasn’t until recently that I added painting to the mix, which is something I have always wanted to do. After inheriting my grandmother's watercolor paints, I started painting and the ideas kept pouring out. I started with flowers, birds, and the natural world, drawing inspiration from historic wallpaper, chinoiserie, decorative arts, and nineteenth-century porcelain. 

Today, my watercolor are at the heart of the studio. They can be commissioned artwork, custom designs, wedding collections, art prints, and pieces for my retail collection of stationery. I especially love finding ways to combine watercolor with letterpress, bringing together two things I love that are still made by hand.

Ella Letterpress continues to grow and change as I do. I'm always learning, always painting, and always looking for new ways to bring my artwork into the world. From an aspiring stationer to an aspiring artist, I will never stop aspiring to create beautiful things!
